Reciprocity

Inspired by the writings, philosophy and science of Robyn Wall Kimmerer, Kristin is guided by reciprocity as a way of being in right-relationship with the land she: lives on, is inspired by, operates her business, and uses in the creation of her ceramics.

As humans, we enjoy so much of the Earth’s beauty, resources and richness. Reciprocity calls us to give back - to reciprocate - the care, nourishment and inspiration we receive from the natural world.

Kristin embodies reciprocity throughout her business in a number of ways. She encourages her customers, suppliers and other business owners to do the same.

  • Monthly donations are made to Pay the Rent to pay respect and reparations for the unceded Aboriginal Land the business benefits from and operates on;

  • $10 from every ticket sold in handbuilding workshops is given to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Council, to honour the Traditional Owners of the land the workshop is held;

  • A monthly donation is made to Children’s Ground in support of and gratitude for the next generation who will inherit (both the beauty and destruction of) our Earth;

  • Environmental awareness and sustainability is considered in all packaging, postage and car travel;

  • Materials and suppliers are sourced locally where possible, this includes collecting wild clay and wood ash from her home in North Warrandyte;

  • All clay scraps are recycled and reused;

  • Taking time to rest, listen to and follow the natural seasons and cycles of the body and the land.

Reciprocity is the inherent way of life for many Indigienous and First Nations people. To learn more about Robyn Wall Kimmerer and other First Nations teachers, you can explore these resources:
